32 - John Parker’s House
10 December 1782
John Parker was a staunch Whig, hated by Charlestown Loyalists. They went to his house in Goose Creek to kill him before the British evacuated, but Parker defended his house and managed to kill the Loyalist leader, Capt. Robins, causing the attackers to give up the fight. Two days later, another group of Loyalists refugees, again tried to kill Parker to avenge the killing of Robins. However, while the Loyalists were entering Parker's property by the back gate, an American troop of dragoons was entering his property by the front gate. Not wanting to confront the well-armed and trained dragoons, the Loyalists fled.
